Maldivian Name: Naru Nagoo Madi
Habitat: shallow bays, island lagoons, and coral reefs
Location: Many shallow reefs, deep channels, shallow lagoons.
Size: 1.8 meters .
Description: One of the largest rays with an almost circular disc commonly found around reefs in shallow depths and may enter deeper to feed.
Diet: fish, and other bottom dwelling invertebrates.
Feeding Habits: faster swimmers, stay close to the bottom .
Lifespan: longer than 12 years
Offspring: 2.6 per litter every year
Status: Non aggressive but it has single venomous spine on the tail.
Threatened by: human destruction, and drifting nets
